Summer Program

Heritage Academy is excited to launch its brand-new summer program! We are currently offering a Summer Marine Biology Program with activities including kayaking in Broad Creek, tackling the tidal river at Folly Field, crabbing in the back waters, bird photography on Pinckney Island, dolphin watches, and plodding through the mud at Mitchellville Beach. We will also offer a myriad of other summer activities and enrichment courses, such as a Sports Performance Academy, Creative Writing and Vocab Blitz camp, Running camp with Nutrition, Math Enrichment course and an art camp!

  • Marine Biology of Hilton Head Island – High School:  

Instructor: Mr. Michael Sanz      

Week 1:  July 12 – July 16

Age of Campers: 13 – 18; Cost for Week: $249 Maximum Camp Size: 14 Students

Hours 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Bring A Bag Lunch

Do you love the ocean and the marvelous animals that call the sea their home? Do you love learning while you’re getting wet and muddy? Then this Marine Biology program is for you. Activities will include kayaking in Broad Creek, tackling the tidal river at Folly Field, crabbing in the back waters, bird photography on Pinckney Island, and plodding through the plough mud of Mitchellville Beach. The team will spend an evening on the beach investigating nocturnal crustaceans, mesmerized by bioluminescent dinoflagellates, and connecting constellations to historic voyages. Combine these events with beachcombing, turtle nest studies, salt-water testing, dolphin observations, forensic investigations, and this will be an unforgettable adventure. Come join us to breath in fresh salty air, learn a lot, and have some great fun!

  • Marine Biology of Hilton Head Island – Middle School

Week 1: July 5 – July 9; Week 2: July 19 – 23 Week 3 (July 26th-July 30th) 

Age of Campers: 9 – 13; Cost for Week: $249.00 Maximum Camp Size: 14 Students

Daily activities include crabbing in the creeks, identifying beautiful birds of the Low Country, kayaking the creeks, tackling the tidal river at Folly Field, dolphin watches, and mud-crawls through the Mitchellville Beach plough mud. Combine these events with sea turtle nest discoveries, tide pooling, alligator interactions, and building a boat. We’re going to learn a lot and have a blast!

  • Math Enrichment Camp – Middle School

Instructor: Mr. Aaron Retzer

Week 1: June 21 – 25; Week 2: July 12 – 16; 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Age of Campers: 9 – 12; Cost for Week: $250.00 Maximum Camp Size: 15 Students

Learn how to think about math in a whole new way!  You will embark on a challenging, but fun week of learning in a whole new way. We will work on skills on problem solving, math tricks and basic math theory and prepare students for rigorous math curriculums. 

  • Math Theory & SAT Prep Camp – High School

Instructor: Mr. Aaron Retzer

Week 1: July 12 – 16; Noon – 2:00 pm

Age of Campers: 13 & up; Cost for Week: $250.00 Maximum Camp Size: 15 Students

Learn how to think about math in a whole new way!  You will embark on a challenging, but fun week of learning in a whole new way. We will work on skills on advanced problem solving, foster mathematical creativity, and prepare students for rigorous math curriculums and tests in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. 

  • Creative Writing & Vocab Blitz – Middle School & High School

Instructor: Cindy Sturgis

Week 1: June 28 – July 2; Week 2: July 12 – 16; 10AM -12

Age of Campers: 9 – 16; Cost for Week: $250.00 Maximum Camp Size: 15 Students

Explore your inner creative writer with fun and imaginative writing prompts and adventures! With so many different ways to experiment through the senses and perspective, you will be surprised what you can do! Learn your personal narrative voice and style that brings life to all of your writing (especially those tricky college entrance and scholarship essays). Whether you write a lot or a little (or not at all) – watch your playful, creative side grow!
